Mrs. Junnetta Juanita Sanders, aka, “Baby Dooms”, age 94, was born on January 21st, 1920 to the late Clyde and Willie Dooms in Durham, North Carolina; and peacefully departed this life on Friday, September 5th, 2014 at her home in Barnwell, South Carolina.

She attended the Durham School system and graduated high school there.  She soon moved to Washington, D.C. and New York, New York to pursue a career in the federal government.  Afterwards, she settled in Detroit, Michigan.  Not long after she met and married Willie Sanders on August 18th, 1951 in Lafayette, Louisiana where he was serving in the military.

The twins, Linda and Brenda, completed their family when they were born on March 6th, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan.  Junnetta continued her career with the Department of Defense at the Detroit Arsenal.  The family then moved to Barnwell, South Carolina in January of 1971 where she worked at the Clemson Extension Service, the Department of Energy at Dupont and the South Carolina Department of Social Service’s Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division.  Junnetta would go on to adopt a son, Tunzy Antwain Sanders, after the death of her husband in 1981.

After retiring and longing to work with children, her life-long passion, Junnetta worked with the Barnwell School District’s Foster Grandparent program at Barnwell Primary School.

She was a faithful member of the Union United Methodist Church in Kline, South Carolina for over forty years where she served as Sunday school teacher and Secretary of the church.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted twin daughters, Judge Brenda K. Sanders of Detroit, Michigan, and Linda Sharon Sanders of Barnwell, South Carolina; one son, Tunzy Antwain Sanders; one grandson, Eric Alan (Silvia) Sanders of Barnwell, South Carolina; two great-grandchildren, Eric Alan Sanders, II, and Sianna Kezia Sanders of Barnwell, South Carolina; three nieces, Harriet Campbell, Cheryl Seals, and Joann Porter all of Detroit, Michigan; one nephew, Kerry (Christine) Humphries of Detroit Michigan; one sister in law, Rita Dooms of Detroit, Michigan; close cousin, Cora Autry of Roanoke, AL; close cousins in law, Barbara Hayes (wife of the late Raymond Hayes), of Durham, North Carolina, and Charlie (Emma) Kirby of Kline, South Carolina, and a host of grand nieces, and nephews in the Detroit, Michigan area, cousins, other relatives, and sympathizing friends.
