Evangelist Sharon Hartwell age 53, of Blackville, SC was born on March 24, 1961 in Brooklyn, NY to Eula Hartwell and the late Freddie Hartwell, Jr.  Our Heavenly Father call her from labor to reward on November 25, 2014 at TRMC- the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, SC.

At an early age, she joined the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York, and later moved her membership to Rehoboth International Fellowship in Brooklyn, New York where she was a faithful member.  Many years later, she moved to South Carolina and became a member of the Greater Sweet Branch Baptist Church in Govan, SC, where she served in many capacities. God in His infinite power moved her to the Light of the World Baptist Church in Bamberg, SC, where she serve faithfully until the Lord called her home. 

Sharon was a 1979 graduate of the Clara Barton High School in Brooklyn, New York. She continued her education at Brooklyn College where she earned a BA degree in Special Education. To further her education, she attended and graduated from Long Island University, where she received a Master’s degree in Special Education.

She worked at IS 55 in Brooklyn, New York, for many years as a Special Ed teacher.  After moving to South Carolina, she was associated with the Heavenly Angels Daycare in Blackville, SC, as Co Director, where she spent many hours reading to the children.

She was married to Osbey M. Brister for 18 years, and to this union, God blessed them with one daughter.        

She leaves to cherish her memories, one loving and dedicated daughter, Kaia Brister of Columbia, South Carolina;  loving mother, Eula Hartwell of Denmark, South Carolina; one loving and dedicated sister, Pamela H. (George) Watts of Poughkeepsie, New York; seven aunts; eight uncles; three godmothers, Ella (George) Ray, and Myrna Brown of Denmark, South Carolina, and Marie Furse of Brooklyn, New York; one godfather, Honorable Judge Clarence Long of Atlanta, Georgia; two godsons, Minister Michael (Kimberley) Smith of Louisville, Kentucky, and Raeshawn Smalls of Blackville, South Carolina; two nieces, who called her “TiTi”, Micah and Laila Watts of Poughkeepsie, New York; one first cousin, on her father’s side, Phyllis Sellers of Columbia, South Carolina, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sympathizing friends.

Dear Mama Eula & family. I am so sorry to hear of the demise of Sharon. I am still in shock. I do apologize I will not be able to attend the Homegoing service. Please give Kaia & Pam tight hugs. Your Brooklyn family loves you all and will continue to keep you in prayer
