Sgt Anthony King age 57, of Columbia, South Carolina, was born on January 30, 1958 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Willie King, Sr. and the late Rebecca Hicks King. Our Heavenly Father called him from labor to reward on January 31, 2015 at the Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina.
At an early age, he joined and was baptized at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York.
He graduated from the George Westinghouse High School in Brooklyn, New York. After graduation, he joined the US Army where he served as a Medical NCO. Anthony received many awards while serving his county, such as the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4), Southwest Asia Service Medal, w/3 Bronze Service Stars, Expert Badge (Rifle), Army Good Conduct Medal (4th AWD), Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, and Combat Medical Badge. After serving his country faithfully, he retired in 1993.
After retiring from the Military, he later moved to Columbia, South Carolina, where he was employed at the Providence Hospital as a Medical Technician / Phlebotomists. While living in Columbia, South Carolina, he later joined the Greater Sweet Branch Baptist Church in Govan, South Carolina.
One brother, Lorenzo King, and five uncles, James King, Lionel Hicks, Russell Hicks, Israel Hicks, and Willie Ray precede him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Beatrice King; one son, Anthony King, II of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Leanna (Anthony) Taylor of Raleigh, North Carolina; two sisters, Evelyn King of Orangeburg, South Carolina, and Sandra (Ernest) Mobley of Charlotte, North Carolina; three brothers, Willie Curtis King, Jr. of Denmark, South Carolina, Harold (Marsha) King of Brooklyn, New York, and Keith King of Columbia, South Carolina; one uncle, Nathaniel (Edith) Hicks of Barnwell, South Carolina; three grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sympathizing friends.
