Music by The Piano Brothers

Alexander Hagood, a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, compassionate brother, caring uncle, cousin and trusting friend.  A character of love, integrity, devotion, commitment and pride.

Alexander completed his early tour of duty, and valiantly retired from his uniform on April 10, 2015, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, SC.  His soul transcended this world and bid farewell to pain, sickness, and sorrow to a place of peace and no more troubling.

A son of the late MoneaLizer and Mose Hagood was born November 26, 1939 in Denmark, SC.  At an early age, he received his religious instructions at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lees, SC.  His received his education at Voorhees High School in Denmark, SC.

The manner in which he influenced our lives will never be forgotten.  Those who enjoyed him will continue to recount fond memories.  This is not goodbye - it is simply farewell.

In 1961, “LA”, as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, migrated to Brooklyn, NY.  He modeled his life on the principles of hard work, and determination.  He was employed at R&S Furniture Company.  He loved his family and always put them first.  He was generous with his time, lending support, and encouragement.

In 1969, he met and married his “love”, Wanda Pollard Hagood, who preceded him in death.  They were blessed with two children, of whom one also preceded him in death.

In 1971, they moved to Union Town, PA.  He was employed with United Steel Mine Workers for thirty years before retiring.

In 2005 he returned to his roots in Denmark, SC, and his home church, Mt Zion Baptist Church in Lees, SC.

The wonderful memory of his life, and his beautiful presence will be reflected upon often with love, by his daughter, Stephanie Hagood (fiancée Derek), West Mifflin, PA; two brothers, Elijah Jenkins, Philadelphia, PA, and Coker (Alfado) Hagood, Blackville, SC; a goddaughter, Gretta Baxter, Newberry, SC; seven grandchildren, one serving in the US Marines; two great-grands, and countless nieces, nephews, extended other relatives, and sympathizing friends.
