Mr. James Brown, Jr. of Greenwood, DE, was born on April 28, 1943, in Allendale, SC to the late James E. Brown, Sr., and the late Josephine Brown.  He left this life of labor on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 10:55 AM at the age of 72.

"Junior" as he was affectionately known, gave himself to the Lord and became a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and was later baptized.  He loved witnessing to family, friends, and strangers, and he truly loved the Lord.  If you needed a haircut, Junior was your man.  He was known as the “Community Barber” in Greenwood, DE.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and watching his cowboy western shows.

In his early years, Junior was educated in the public schools of South Carolina, and while living in Delaware, he was working successfully on his GED (with only two months left before graduation).  Junior worked and retired from Perdue in Salisbury, MD after 27 years.  He later went to work at Sugar Hill Farms, and retired after working 12 years.

Leaving to cherish his memory are his children, Tyrone Brown of Los Vegas, NV, Michelle Brown (Lee) Khumalo  of Sacramento, CA, and James Jenkins of Seaford, DE; three brothers, Freddie Brown and wife, and Harry Brown and wife of Bridgeville, DE, and Roger Brown of Seaford, DE; three sisters, Lula Mae Brown-Thaxton of Fairfax, SC, and Clara Ann (Sherwood) Reid  of Lincoln, DE, (who took excellent care of him during the last stages of his illness, until his passing); one aunt, Mary (George) Rice of Kline, SC; very special friend, Royce Butler, who also resides with Clara and Sherwood Reid of Lincoln, DE;  six grandchildren, Tyrone Brown, Jr., and Cetera Brown of Seaford, DE, Alyeshia Hutson of Vallejo, CA, Yakira Hutson of Oakland, CA, and Leeah and Lee Jr. Khumalo of Sacramento, CA,  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sympathizing friends.

Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 13, 2015, at the Virgin Mary Baptist Church in Allendale, South Carolina, with Pastor Barney Glover officiating.  Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery in Allendale.

I am so sorry for your loss. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3-4 states, And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. Very soon now, we will never experience losing our loved ones in death. May these words give you a new hope.
