Mrs. Bernice Walker, aka “Shug” age 96, of Blackville, SC, was born on August 18, 1919 in Blackville, South Carolina to the late Cornelius Donaldson, and the late Annie Perry Donaldson.  Our Heavenly Father called her home on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the home of her niece in Aiken, SC.

At an early age, she sought God’s direction and guidance, and joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lees, SC, where she was the Mother of the Church sang in the Senior Choir, member of the Missionary Society, Golden Girls, and Sister Hood.

She attended the Mt Zion School in Lees, South Carolina, and worked as a housekeeper for many years.

“Shug”, as she was affectionately called by those who knew her, will be remembered for the love she had for her family and friends.

She was married to the love of her life, Willie James Walker for many years.

One son, one daughter, nine sisters and brothers, and many other family members preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Willie James Walker, Jr; two grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sympathizing friends.

Dear Family,

"Behind each cloud is the sun still shinning." God in His infinite love has called his child home and our sad hearts break. Her absence from your family circle means she is now in the presence of the Lord and has received her great reward. May you find peace in knowing this.

Love,
Harriet Phoenix-Fernander

My condolences in the loss of your dear loved one. When a loved one dies it is very painful. The Bible gives us comfort and hope with scriptures such as Revelation 21:3,4 and Isaiah 25:8. These scriptures tell of Jehovah God’s promise of no more sickness and death. May these words encourage and strengthen you during your time of bereavement.
