Iola Brooker, age 73, of Barnwell, SC was born on November 28, 1941 in Allendale County, SC to the late Benjamin Franklin Brooker, Sr. and the late Odessa Deloach Brooker.  Our Heavenly Father call her from labor to reward on November 15, 2015 at her home in Barnwell, SC.

At an early age, she joined the New Hope United Methodist Church in Seigling, SC, where she served as chair of the Kitchen committee, Usher, and Sang in the Sr. Choir.  She later became a member of Victory Tabernacle Deliverance Temple (P.A.W.) in Orangeburg, SC, where she served faithfully until her health began to fail.

Iola was a graduate of the Butler High School in Barnwell, SC. She was a hardworking woman and took great pride in her work.  She started out working for others, and finally stepped out on faith and opened the family business in 1992, “The Brooker’s Restaurant”, which she operated and managed for 21 years.

Aunt “Ola”, as her nieces and nephews affectionately called her, will be remembered for the love she had for her family and friends, but most of all for her homemade biscuits.

Two sisters, Ms. Blondell Brooker and Ms. Thernell Dukes, and two brothers, Mr. Olden Brooker, and Deacon Benjamin Franklin Brooker, Jr., preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three sisters, Margaret Brown, of Columbia, South Carolina, Dorothy Owens of Barnwell, SC, and Perry Lee (Rev. Dr. Herman Wallace) of Blackville, South Carolina; one adopted sister, Vicie (Roosevelt) Goode of Martin, SC; nieces and nephews reared in the home as her own, Willie Dell (Anthony) Jenkins of Aiken, SC, Bernard Dukes (Jessica) and Jackie (Anthony) Taylor of Barnwell, SC, Bernell (Jacque) Dukes of Wytheville, VA, and Doris (Wayne) Beard of Blackville, SC; one sister in law; Bernice Brooker of Barnwell, SC; three adopted nieces, Vanessa Allen and Kelli (Leonard) Allen of Augusta, Ga, and Barbara (Tony) Bush of New Ellenton, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sympathizing friends.

I am so sorry for your loss. I would like to share some encouraging thoughts from the Bible at Revelation 21:3-4 states, And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. Very soon now, we will never experience losing our loved ones in death. May these words give you a new hope.

It is difficult to find the words to express what's in my heart. Iola has departed, but she will never be forgotten! May the Holy Spirit of God through Jesus Christ comfort you in your loss, now and always! Love you all!
