Mr. Charles Holmes, Sr., aka “Boot”, age 87 was born in Allendale, SC on October 16, 1928 to the late Henry Holmes, Sr., and the late Rose Brunson Holmes. 

At an early age, he sought God’s direction and guidance, and joined the Miller Swamp Missionary Baptist Church in Fairfax, SC, where he served as Chairman of the Trustee Board, and Horticulture.

Charles received his education at CV Bing High School in Allendale, SC.

He was a member of the Gilford Lodge in Gilford, SC for many years.

He retired from the Coca-Cola Company, where he worked as a Technician.

“Boot” as he was affectionately known will be remembered for the love he had for his family, and friends, and he will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

He was married to the love of his life, the late Lela Rollins Holmes for 53 years before the Lord called her home.

Besides his wife, parents, and grandparents, he is preceded in death by two children, Rose M. Williams and Joann Butler, seven brothers, eight sisters, and one son in law, Clarence Frazier,

On Monday, July 11, 2016, our Heavenly Father called him from labor to reward at his home in Allendale, SC.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Clara (Joseph) Williams, and Georgia Frazier of Allendale, SC, and Clarissa (Walter) Lee of Hephzibah, GA; two sons, Charles L. Holmes, Jr. (Geraldine), and Jonathan (Marilyn) Holmes of Allendale, SC; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sons in law, Bernard Williams, and Carney Butler of Augusta, GA; one sister in law, Estella Holmes of Fayetteville, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sympathizing friends.
