Mrs. Sarah Hammond, aka “Sarah Chisolm” age 80 was born to George Chisolm and Easter Breeland on August 6, 1936 in Allendale County, SC.

She received her education in the Allendale County School System.

At an early age she joined and was baptized at the Paul Chapel Baptist Church in Ulmer, SC where she sang in the Senior Choir, and served faithfully until her health began to fail.

Sarah was a very independent woman who took a lot of pride in her looks, and the way she carried herself.  One thing you wouldn’t do is play over what belonged to her.  She loved all of her family, and would let the world know that no one was going to bother her family, especially her Mama-Baby-Al.

She was married to Johnson Hammond for many years before the Lord called him home.

Our Heavenly Father called her from labor to reward on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Pruitt Health in Aiken, SC.

Besides her husband, parents, and grandparents, she is preceded in death by one son, Eddie Lee Priester, six sisters, three brothers, and a number of aunts and uncles.

Sarah leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Richard (Joyce) Chisolm of Manhattan, NY; one step-son, David Hammond of Columbia, SC; two step-daughters, Lorraine Hammond and Mamie Hammond of Fairfax, SC; ten grandchildren, Monica Chisolm of Columbia, SC, Chad Chisolm, Sr. of Barnwell, SC, Lawanda Elmore, Tabitha Smoaks, and Cordell Priester all of Allendale, SC, Dorothy Bouncil of Barnwell, SC, Lakeya Allgood, Myaisha Allgood, Dashawn Allgood, and Malia Allgood all of New York; nine great grandchildren, Keamoni Frazier, Apherionsau  “Toot”  Frazier of Columbia, SC, Tyneisha Chisolm, and Chad Chisolm, Jr. of Aiken, SC, Ariel Chisolm, Richard Chisolm, Jr., Alexia Elmore, Lakiya Smoaks all of Allendale, SC, and Chaden Chisolm of Barnwell, SC;  one sister, Alice Patterson of Ulmer, SC; one special niece who was there a lot, Patricia Washington of Aiken, SC; two good friends, Estelle Carter and Betty Chisolm of Allendale, SC; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and sympathizing friends.

The Funeral Service was 2.00 PM Saturday, October 22, 2016, at the Paul Chapel Baptist Church in Ulmer, SC, with words of comfort by Pastor Michelle Gordon. The burial followed in the Priester Cemetery.

My condolences in the loss of your beloved family member. During this difficult time we need comfort. The Bible offers beautiful words at Psalm 147:3; He (God) heals the brokenhearted; He binds up their wounds. Also Revelation 21:4 promise in the future; And he (God) will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. May these scriptures provide comfort for you now and in the days ahead.
