Brother Benjamin Jessie, “BJ” O’Neal age 86 was born on November 9, 1930, in Williston, SC to the late Jessie O’Neal and the late Lucille Lewis O’Neal.
Seeking God’s direction and guidance he joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Williston, SC, where he was a member until he relocated to Hollywood, FL. While in Florida, he was employed for many years as a laborer at Color-Rite Brick Company.
“BJ” as he was affectionately known, was a very talkative and humorous man who will be remembered for his generous heart.
He was married to the late Lavern Simmons O’Neal, and in this union, seven children were born.
Besides his wife, parents, and grandparents he is preceded in death by four children, Alonza O’Neal, Alice Mae Gooding, Laverett O’Neal, and Harry O’Neal, Sr, two grandchildren, Harry O’Neal, Jr. and Yolanda O’Neal, and two brothers, M.L. O’Neal, and Jerry O’Neal.
Our Heavenly Father called him from labor to reward on February 10, 2017, at his home in Lithonia, GA, where he resided with his granddaughter Lakisha O’Neal (Shawn) Fredrick.
He leaves to cherish his beautiful memory, three daughters, Dianne (Deacon Arthur) Jones and Lucile (Deacon Robert) Robinson of Martin, SC, and Cherry Jones of Allendale, SC; Eighteen (18) grandchildren; Thirty Six (36) great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Alberta (Ennis) Bush of New Jersey, and Estella (Lee) Henderson of North Carolina; sons in law, Columbus Jones of Barnwell, SC, and Lenkward Gooding of Allendale, SC; daughters in law, Geraldine C. O’Neal of Dania Beach, FL, and Priscilla Brodus of Martin, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sympathizing friends.
